China’s foreign trade demonstrated robust growth in the initial eight months of the year, with the combined value of imports and exports of goods reaching 34.78 trillion yuan, equivalent to $5.18 trillion. This figure represents a 17.6% increase compared to the same period last year. Specifically, exports saw a rise of 14.6%, reaching 20.17 trillion yuan, while imports surged by 22%, totaling 14.61 trillion yuan.
The upward trajectory in trade growth gained further momentum in August, with the total value of goods imports and exports rising by 19.8% year-on-year to 4.65 trillion yuan. During this period, exports increased by 18.6%, and imports experienced a 21.7% growth.
Both exports and imports have consistently displayed double-digit year-on-year growth for the past four months. Notably, import growth has outpaced export growth consistently over the last six months.
