Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi has emphasized the importance of enhancing cooperation between China and Germany, advocating for mutual support of multilateralism, free trade, and dialogue. This call was made during a phone conversation with German Foreign Minister Johann Wadephul on Monday.
Wang underscored that strengthening economic and strategic ties would be mutually beneficial, especially amid global economic challenges. He highlighted the need for greater communication and deeper cooperation between the two nations. Moreover, Wang urged Germany to uphold the one-China principle and contribute to maintaining stability across the Taiwan Strait.
In response, Wadephul affirmed that Germany-China relations have been progressing positively and expressed a commitment to furthering high-level exchanges and enhancing cooperation in trade and economic affairs. He reiterated Germany’s adherence to the one-China policy, aligning with Wang’s remarks.
The ministers also explored various international issues, including the situations in Iran and Ukraine. Wang reiterated China’s dedication to supporting peace initiatives and enhancing communication with Germany and the European Union to address these global concerns.
