Taiwanese weightlifter Chen Guan-ling achieved significant success at the World Weightlifting Championships held in Ningbo, China, by securing two silver medals and one bronze in the women’s 57kg category. The 21-year-old demonstrated impressive skills in the clean and jerk, successfully lifting weights of 117kg, 119kg, and 125kg. Her final lift of 125kg earned her a silver medal in that discipline. Additionally, her combined total of 215kg garnered her another silver medal, while her performance in the snatch earned her a bronze.

This achievement marks an improvement from Chen’s previous performance at the 2024 World Weightlifting Championships, where she won one silver and two bronze medals. Earlier this year, she also claimed a bronze medal in the same weight category at the Asian Games in Nagoya, Japan.

The World Weightlifting Championships continue until November 8 and play a crucial role in accruing qualification points for the 2028 Los Angeles Olympics. However, it is noteworthy that the women’s 57kg category is not included in the Olympic weightlifting program, which comprises six different weight classes.
