Taiwan has decided to halt the processing of visas for citizens of Morocco, following a recent move by Morocco to stop accepting visa confirmation letter applications from Taiwanese travelers. This action was taken by Morocco based on the principle of reciprocity, affecting Taiwanese individuals seeking to visit the North African nation.
The Taiwanese Ministry of Foreign Affairs reported that Moroccan diplomatic missions have been directed to cease processing the necessary confirmation letters that allow Taiwanese travelers to secure visas upon arrival in Morocco. Despite this suspension, Taiwanese visitors who already possess valid confirmation letters will still be able to enter Morocco, provided their documents have not expired.
This development has caused a disruption in travel and people-to-people exchanges between the two regions. In response, Taiwan has expressed its concerns and is urging the Moroccan authorities to resume normal visa processing operations. The interruption is seen as a significant obstacle to maintaining the flow of visitors and cultural exchanges between Taiwan and Morocco.
