China is set to kick off its National Science Popularization Month, aiming to enhance public comprehension of scientific innovation and boost science literacy across the nation. This month-long initiative will center around the theme “Science Transforms Lives, Innovation Secures the Future,” offering a diverse array of exhibitions, lectures, science tours, and public engagement activities.
In Beijing alone, over 100 exhibitions and events are scheduled across major venues. Simultaneously, national scientific societies plan to host more than 150 activities throughout the country. The focus of this initiative is to make both basic research and emerging scientific developments more accessible to the general public.
One of the highlights of the program is that visitors will have the opportunity to access laboratories and research facilities. This initiative aims to provide the public with firsthand knowledge of cutting-edge scientific progress, fostering a deeper understanding of the advancements shaping the future.
Adding to the significance of the month, the 2026 World Conference on Science Literacy is slated to take place in mid-September in Beijing. This conference will convene representatives from various countries to discuss science literacy and foster international cooperation, further solidifying the global focus on enhancing scientific awareness.
