Filming is underway for “John Rambo,” a prequel set to explore the formative years of the iconic action hero before the storyline of the 1982 film “First Blood.” The production is taking place across various locations in Thailand, such as Bangkok, Krabi, Phang Nga, and Kanchanaburi, utilizing both urban and natural settings to depict the beginnings of Rambo’s journey.

Noah Centineo has been cast to portray the young John Rambo, stepping into the role famously originated by Sylvester Stallone. The film is directed by Jalmari Helander, known for his work on the action thriller “Sisu,” with a screenplay penned by Rory Haines and Sohrab Noshirvani. This prequel aims to delve into the pivotal experiences that molded Rambo into a legendary figure in action cinema. Although specific plot details are still under wraps, the narrative is expected to focus on Rambo’s early life and the critical events that shaped his future.

The production team boasts several seasoned filmmakers and producers, including Sylvester Stallone, who serves as an executive producer. The project brings together partnerships from multiple major production companies, underscoring the significant investment in revisiting the Rambo character’s origins. This marks the franchise’s first significant effort to introduce a younger version of the famed soldier to a new generation of viewers.

The Rambo series remains one of Hollywood’s most successful action franchises, comprising five films that have collectively grossed over $800 million worldwide. With the release scheduled for 2027, “John Rambo” seeks to expand on this legacy by offering audiences a deeper understanding of the character’s backstory and the elements that contributed to his evolution into a cinematic icon.
