The old saying “every saint has a past” seems to be the guiding principle of the new Benoit Blanc mystery. The first teaser for Wake Up Dead Man: A Knives Out Mystery sets up a story where a seemingly holy community is filled with dark secrets, and a murdered priest may not be as innocent as he seems.
Daniel Craig returns as detective Benoit Blanc to investigate this “impossible” crime, plunging into the hidden lives of the congregation. The teaser suggests that to find the killer, Blanc must first uncover the sins of the victim and his flock, blurring the lines between saints and sinners.
The cast of potential “saints” with secret pasts is played by a stellar lineup, including Glenn Close, Kerry Washington, Mila Kunis, and Jeremy Renner. Blanc, with his new, more contemplative look, seems perfectly suited to this task of psychological and spiritual excavation.
The film has already premiered at the Toronto International Film Festival. Audiences can begin to uncover the secrets for themselves when Wake Up Dead Man is released in select theaters on November 26th and on Netflix on December 12th.
